About

History

A Brief History

What began as an idea in early 1990 became a reality in December of that same year. Henry H. Griffin, President, of Southern AG Carriers put together the purchase of a small private fleet of 5 tractors and 10 dry van trailers serving customers in the peanut processing industry in GA, AL, & NC. Since that cool day in December of 1990, Southern AG Carriers, our parent company,  has grown to operate a fleet of 350 company owned tractors and over 1000 trailers serving a wide array of customers across 27 states.

Since his childhood years growing up as the youngest son in a family of 5 boys and 5 girls, Henry learned from his parents what it meant to provide for the family. That family atmosphere is what makes Southern AG Carriers stand out from the competition. Customers are like family to Henry, and keeping customers happy by providing them with on-time, claim-free service that meets their specific need is what Southern AG Carriers is all about.

By providing a variety of services and specialized equipment, Southern AG Carriers meets the needs of customers in several different industries from food processing (dry & refrigerated), to automotive replacement parts, manufacturing and distibution, paper goods, as well as many other industries. Providing equipment such as 53’ dry van and refrigerated trailers, 48’ hopper trailers and open top live floor equipment, flatbed trailers and food grade tank trailers, Southern AG Carriers is able to design a transportation package to meet a customer’s specific need.

We take pride in our ability to provide customers with services tailored to their needs rather than just trying to be another truckload carrier.

In 2010 the plan came together to expand to North Carolina. Southern AG had been transporting freight in and out of the state. It was decided that three new locations would be opened. A Southern AG Office in Edenton, a Southern AG Terminal in Dunn, and the Logistics division, Sentry Logistics Group in Wilson. The Logistics team has over 150 years combined experience.
